BLOG: Happy birthday to Marketplace at El Paseo
Ten years ago this week, Fresno’s fastest-growing shopping center got off to a “modest” 300,000 square-foot start with a new Target, Ross, Petco, Burlington, Marshall’s and more. Rich Development, Gryphon Capital and N3 Real Estate partnered on the $74 million Marketplace at El Paseo development at Highway 99 and Herndon Avenue.
A national chain closed its Fresno location. This family-run burger spot took its place
Same spot. Different burgers. National chain Wayback Burgers has closed its only location in Fresno, but a local, family-owned burger spot has already reopened in the same spot. The restaurant is in the Marketplace at El Paseo shopping center near Highway 99 and Herndon Avenue, in one of the outbuildings facing Riverside Drive.

The City of San Fernando is delighted to attract investment from Gryphon Capital as our partners in renewing a shopping center that had a large, vacant retail space for many years. By leveraging their extensive relationships with quality retail tenants and experience managing large shopping centers, Gryphon Capital was able to work with Target to occupy the vacancy and fill a need for the community. This investment by Gryphon Capital not only created new jobs, but also made a number of improvements to the property that enrich and beautify our community. We look forward to Gryphon Capital being an active part of the San Fernando community for many years to come.
